Shotcrete and Gunite are two commonly used terms of pneumatically applied concrete. Gunite is a nickname for the dry process of Shotcrete. Gunite is sand, cement and water mixed together and run through a machine call a Gunite Gun. We use a 935 CFM Air Compressor to push this material through a large hose and the material is still in a dry state. As the mix leaves the hose it has water injected into the mix at a nozzle and can be controlled by a man called a Nozzleman. Top Gun is proud to say, thanks to ASA, we have certified Nozzlemen on the job.
Our primary application for Gunite is for inground swimming pools and spas. We subcontract to many swimming pool contractors in the Washington, Baltimore, and Annopolis areas, but we can build just about anything that is concrete related, as you will see in the Photo Gallery.
Here are just a few examples of contracted work we have done:
- Fort Eustis, VA - Swimming Pool
- Camp David, MD - Swimming Pool
- White House, DC - Outdoor Swimming Pool
- Naval Observatory, DC - Vice Presidents Swimming Pool
- Souther Maryland Oil Company, MD - Safety tank retention pond
- Rosslyn, VA - Dark Star Park
- Lehigh Cement Company, MD - Retention Ponds
- Corcoran's Island, MD - Swimming Pool one mile off shore
- Vans Skateboard Park, VA - Potomac Mills Mall
- Interstate 95 south of DC Bridge embankment on by pass
Top Gun maintains the highest regard for safety and has helped with safety training videos for the Army Corp of Engineers in Fort Eustis, VA.
We strive to keep our quality at the highest level on each and every job by lab testing our materials, per ACI, ASTM and ASA guide lines.
For your Gunite/Shotcrete needs keep Top Gun of Virginia, Inc. as an option.
